Marshmallow is a soft, spongy sweet made by whipping a hot sugar syrup with a gelling agent, usually gelatin, until it traps air and sets into a light foam. Filled marshmallows add a soft centre, and marshmallow also turns up as a layer inside snack cakes.
Most marshmallows on SeekSnack are Mildy from European Food in Thailand: white marshmallows with a creamy filling in flavours such as chocolate, strawberry, banana, lychee and cantaloupe. Euro Choco Pie with marshmallow and raspberry jam shows the cake-layer style.
Gelatin is usually made from pork or beef, so these marshmallows are not vegetarian, and the fillings contain milk powder. The fruit flavours get their colour from food colours listed on the label.
