A croissant is a crescent-shaped pastry made from a yeast dough layered with fat and folded many times, so that it bakes into thin, flaky layers. Packaged croissants for snacking are softer than bakery ones, usually filled with a cream, and made to keep on the shelf for months.
The example is the Today croissant with chocolate and hazelnut & vanilla cream filling from Elvan, a Turkish confectionery maker whose Today brand covers croissants and cakes. Hazelnut fillings are common in Turkish sweets, as Turkey grows most of the world’s hazelnuts.
This croissant contains wheat, egg and milk, as well as hazelnuts, a tree nut.
