Turkey has a long tradition of sweets and baked goods, from baklava and Turkish delight to simit, a sesame-crusted bread ring, and it grows most of the world’s hazelnuts, which turn up in many Turkish chocolates and creams. Its packaged snack industry exports widely, especially individually wrapped cakes, croissants, wafers and biscuits.
The Turkish-made snacks on SeekSnack come from Elvan, a confectionery company that began in 1952 as a small candy shop in Istanbul, and its Today brand of packaged bakery snacks. SeekSnack has reviewed the Today croissant with chocolate and hazelnut & vanilla cream and the Today Snowball Cake With Milk Cream, a soft sponge with a white coating and a milk cream filling.
Both contain wheat, egg and milk, and the croissant also contains hazelnuts.
