Japan has one of the world’s most inventive snack cultures. Convenience stores and supermarkets rotate seasonal and limited-edition flavours constantly, and regional sweets called omiyage, bought as gifts after a trip, are a tradition of their own, with nearly every city and region known for a local speciality.
The Japanese-made snacks on SeekSnack show both sides. Chocobi Corn Snacks - Milk from Tohato are star-shaped corn snacks known as Shin-chan’s favourite in the anime Crayon Shin-chan, and Cororo Grape Jelly from UHA Mikakuto is a grape gummy known for its juicy, fruit-like texture. On the omiyage side are a steamed sponge cake filled with Yubari melon cream from Hokkaido and a banana cake gift box from Shoei Foods.
Many Japanese brands also make snacks in Thailand. SeekSnack lists the country printed on the pack, so Thai-made Pocky and Koala’s March appear under Thailand.
