Chips are thin, crunchy snacks that are fried or baked until crisp and then seasoned. The best known are potato chips, called crisps in Britain, but the same idea works with corn, rice, vegetables and seafood crackers. Flavours range from plain salt to local favourites: on SeekSnack, Thai flavours such as larb, Esan hot pot and spicy lobster sit next to American barbecue and sour cream.
This is a parent category. Its largest subcategory is potato chips, which includes ripple-cut chips and stacked potato crisps; others cover corn chips, tortilla chips, rice chips, vegetable chips and seafood chips. Flavours such as nacho cheese or salt and vinegar are on the flavour pages.
Most chips are fried in vegetable oil, and seasonings may contain milk, wheat, soy or seafood, so allergen information can differ between flavours of the same brand.
