Candy is the broad name for sugar confectionery, sweets eaten for their flavour rather than as a meal. The candies reviewed on SeekSnack are all Thai and show two local styles, rather than the hard boiled sweets the word might suggest.
The first is the milk tablet, a pressed tablet of milk powder and sugar that melts slowly in the mouth. Royal Chitralada Milk Tablet Sweet Flavor comes from the Royal Chitralada Projects, the royal agricultural projects in Bangkok whose dairy products are well known in Thailand. The second is preserved fruit candy: Fuji Plum’s sweet cured plums, and Moniegold’s sugar-dusted Plum & Tamarind Ball, which mixes sweet, sour and salty with a little chilli heat.
Candy also has smaller kinds of its own: candy-shell chocolates such as M&M’s, jelly and marshmallows.
Milk tablets are made from milk powder, so they contain milk.
