Pretz is a baked biscuit stick from the Japanese confectioner Glico. Where its sibling Pocky is dipped in chocolate, Pretz is savoury and uncoated, with the flavour in the stick itself. Glico based it on the German pretzel and launched it in Japan in 1963.
Thai Glico Co., Ltd. began making Pretz at its Rangsit factory near Bangkok in 1971, and it now sells the sticks in local flavours such as larb and tom yum kung. The Pretz on SeekSnack is a limited 2019 collaboration: Pretz Thai Chili Paste Taste, made with Maepranom, a long-established Thai maker of chili paste (nam prik pao).
The sticks are made from wheat flour, so they contain gluten. Seasonings differ by flavour, so check the pack for milk, shellfish or other allergens.
