Jolly Bears is a brand of bear-shaped gummy jellies made by Phongchitt.co.,Ltd (Phong Chitt), a Bangkok confectionery company that has operated since 1973. The company started out with hard candy before moving into jelly sweets, and also sells Jolly Cola and Jolly Stick.
Jolly Bears come in a mix of fruit flavours, orange, grape, strawberry, pineapple and apple, with each colour of bear standing for one fruit. They are made with fruit juice and are soft and chewy rather than hard.
The bears are set with gelatin, which usually comes from pork or beef, so they are not vegetarian. Their bright colours come from food colours including INS 102, 110 and 124, azo colours that carry a warning label in the EU.
