Doritos is a brand of flavoured corn tortilla chips owned by Frito-Lay, the snack arm of PepsiCo. The chips started at Casa de Fritos, a restaurant at Disneyland in California, became a Frito-Lay product in 1964 and went on sale across the United States in 1966. The name is usually traced to the Spanish doradito, meaning “little golden one”.
In Thailand, Doritos are made and sold by Pepsi-Cola (Thai) Trading Co.,Ltd.. SeekSnack has reviewed the classic Nacho Cheese flavour, introduced in 1972, which smells of cheese as soon as the bag opens, and a Roasted Corn flavour that leans on the taste of the corn itself.
The chips are made from corn and palm olein. Seasonings vary, and cheese flavours usually contain milk.
