Doi Kham is a Thai food brand run by Doi Kham Food Products Co.,Ltd., a social enterprise that grew out of King Bhumibol’s Royal Project. The project set up food factories in the northern highlands, the first in Fang, Chiang Mai, in 1972, to buy and process crops from hill farmers growing alternatives to opium. Doi means mountain in northern Thai, and kham comes from the word for gold.
The brand is best known for fruit and vegetable juices, especially tomato juice, along with dried fruit, jams and honey. SeekSnack has reviewed its Savoury Guava with Chinese Apricot: dried guava pieces tossed with salted plum powder, salt and a little chilli, for a sweet, sour and salty bite.
The guava snack contains INS 223 (sodium metabisulphite), a sulphite used as an antioxidant, which matters to people sensitive to sulphites.
